A typical “quiet” Sunday - get to sleep in till 9am. get up, throw down a protein shake, prepare a bottle of milk for one of our new cria who’s maiden mother hasn’t produced enough milk yet - he gets 300 mls. 3 times a day, am (usually 8), 5pm and 10-11pm to get him through the night. Let the new mums and babies out of the barn where we put them overnight if it looks like the weather could get nasty, take jaclets off the ones we’re giving extra care to. Take them back to their paddock and give them some lucerne hay - they need the extra protein if their nursing or still working on “un-packing” (giving birth :-). Since I’m in the neighbourhood I feed the 20 ducks before they mug me and the 12 new Orpington Chicks ( who have just started to lay and earn their keep!). Kerrie will do the rest of the feedings, bless her and I’ll sit in front of the computer. There are millions of jobs needing to be done, but I’m going to blow those off and set up our Wii console which has been sitting there for a week waiting for a quiet moment.
My cat Blackett has the right idea sometimes - “hey, is there room in that box for me?” :-)
